MAKE YOUR OWN SCRAPBOOK

MATERIALS NEEDED:

2 equal sized pieces of heavy cardboard (12x12, 8.5x11, 6x6, or 4x6)
2 equal sized pieces of 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick foam or quilt batting cut to 1/4 inch wider than your cardboard pieces
2 equal sized pieces of fabric (plus 5 inches all the way around) the size of your cardboard
2 equal sized pieces of fabric 1/2 inch smaller than the size of your cardboard
spray adhesive
craft glue or hot glue and/or stitch witchery (fusible webbing)
Embellishments:  ribbons, bows, tags, beads, etc.

1.  Get your two pieces of cardboard and lay onto the wrong side of your outside cover fabric.  Crease all sides of the fabric all the way around.  Remove the cardboard and you should see four small squares at each corner.  Cut each of those corners out just slightly smaller than the imprint of the creases.  This will eliminate bulky corners from having all of that fabric there.

2.  Spray your adhesive on one side of your cardboard pieces and attach your foam or batting.  Allow this to dry thoroughly!

3.  Place your cardboard pieces with foam/batting side down onto the wrong side of your fabric.  Fold each side of the fabric over and attach with craft glue or hot glue.  You may need to hold for a few minutes, as you don't want to use anything to hold it down and have your foam "squish" into the spray adhesive and make "dimples".

4.  Take your two pieces of fabric for the inside of the book and fold them over about 1/4 to 1/2 inches in and secure with craft glue or fusible web/stitch witchery.  When those are completely dry or cool, place them over the raw edges of the front cover fabric and attach with hot glue or craft glue.

5.  You should have already purchased your scrapbook sheets, photo album sheets or brag book sheets.  If they do not have holes already in them, use a hole punch and add them to your pages.  Place one of your pages on the bottom of your scrapbook and mark your holes.  You should make two holes in your cover.  If your pages has three holes, that's ok, just skip the middle one.  Use and ice pick or some other sharp item to poke holes through your covers.  Thread a ribbon up through the holes and through your pages.  Add your front cover and thread the ribbon through.  Tie a pretty bow and BAM, you've just made your own scrapbook!

Embellish until your heart's content!  You can make these as personal or as ellaborate as you wish.  These are wonderful gifts to give the ones you love.  These also make wonderful keepsakes for vacation photo pages, graduation, birthdays, weddings, etc.

I hope you enjoyed this project idea and instructions.  Send me a photo so I may show it off!
